Minutes

It has been another very good year for LADAC and fishing as a whole! All were welcomed to the 16 th AGM. Big thanks to our hosts and sponsor of the evening that has been so good to the angling fraternity as a whole this year, TOYOTA. Toyota Malawi has also sponsored the Malawi Championship prizes which will be presented at the SoRAC AGM. Due to rugby schedule the meeting could be broken into several parts again as per 2005 to accommodate the events.

1. Adoption Minutes 2005 AGM

The Minutes of the 2005 AGM were proposed by Gary Brown and seconded by John Pendered .

2. Matters Arising from 2005 AGM:

2.1. 2006 AGM Survey:

a. Limit the Catch, has this worked and are the members happy with the quota system or would you prefer no Quotas? QUOTAS 22 votes / NO QUOTAS 2 votes – Quotas are therefore adopted.

In line with our “social responsibility policy”, in 2006, thanks went out to all for enforcing the undersized rule and the quota limits. To further “limit the kill” and enhance our angling skills, a number of suggestions had been put forward. Members voted, as follows:

•
We adopted quotas in 2006 as mandated from the 2005 AGM. Are we happy with the quotas as set or would you like to see changes? The quotas were set at the following for 2006: votes went in favour of the following:
•
Sungwa 6 to 4 , and or increase the size limit – Committee to decide
•
Mcheni 12 to 16 ,
•
Big Blues 12 to remain as is
•
Lyani 20 to 25
•
Others 12 to remain as is
•
Non Scale 3 to remain as is

•
In keeping with Artificial Lure Tournaments in South Africa and Art lure tournaments elsewhere it has been suggested that we adopt their system which is only 4 fish per species with bonus points for each specie quota filled. Members voted:
•
LADAC Competitions: Try a couple of comps
•
International Competitions: New committee to decide with ASOM from trial comps.

•
In 2006 we adopted the points system of 25, 23, 21, 19, 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, 7,6, 5, 4, 3, 2, and 1. Are we happy with this system or change back to bulk scores ? Votes : Points _ 14 for , Bulk_ 5 for – Points system carried.
•
For the Club Championships it was voted to use the top 6 of 11 comps at the 2005 AGM, to give people who can't fish all comps a chance to feature in the prizes. However we decided to introduce an additional championship with a separate trophy most generously donated by your current chairman Rich Hay. This trophy will be known as the TOP SIX BULK.

b. Cannery (now Whistlers) as a Venue?

Thanks again to John and Doe, Whistlers just keeps getting better and better. LADAC were paid back (Mk 600,000) by Whistlers towards the Swimming Pool which has without a doubt added to the ambiance and fun at Whistlers. There is a balance owing of 500,000 which I'm sure Pakka will no doubt bring up in his summary of accounts.

In order for LADAC to retain it's exclusivity of the club and basically keep it going, it was decided through a referendum to increase subs by 7,000 per family or 3,000 per single member to be paid to Whistlers as a rent for the year. This means the club house pool and surrounds is for the exclusive use of LADAC members, except for special Whistlers events such as Weddings 21 st b/days, New years etc.

Please note that we as LADAC have nothing to do with the accommodation or boat house apart from assisting when asked to in order to make improvements for LADAC members.

Please note that a person can be signed in by a member but only for 3 functions maximum and thereafter they must either become a member or pay an entrance fee of 500 per head. All members should assist in monitoring please.

ADAC in 2006, procured:

•
Spares for a John Deere tractor that JP has, came up on the spur of the moment but had to be sourced from Mozambique through Constantini. We as LADAC were asked if we were willing and able to assist in the purchase so that the tractor could be used at Whistlers as back up to the Unimog. An urgent decision was required in order to secure the parts and I as Chairman with the support of the Vice Chairman agreed to lend the money 420,000 to JP or Whistlers on the normal payback system. The parts are still to come up from Moz. Vote on whether we should go ahead with this loan – YES majority carried. Committee will keep you updated.
•
We need to make LADAC more social, have other events? YES_ UNANIMOUS _ _NO_ 0
  For 2007, what projects?

c. 2007 Season What Could We Improve?

•
Should the international against SAALAA or UK Art lure etc remain an annual fixture or Bi – annual? YES TO ANNUAL FIXTURE.
•
Please see the proposed international fixture list. Is it too much or should we reduce ASOM participation and put in some LADAC/SoRAC teams? TO BE DECIDED BY NEW COMMITTEE/ASOM.
•
The Malawi Championship which should be the highest honour in angling achievements in Malawi for the year was a great disappointment with only 8 participants in total. Only 2 participants from LADAC.
•
Suggested for the Malawi Champs is the top 10 from each club have a fish off at a neutral venue such as Southern part of the Lake or even Nkota Kota for example. YES BUT LEFT TO NEW COMMITTEE / ASOM / SORAC
•
What other suggestions for Malawi Champs. NONE
•
The inter club champs was a farce with only 2 LADAC members to make up a team of 4. At the 2005 AGM it was voted to remain but without any support. Should we SCRAP it from this year? IF THE MC REMAINS AS IS YES, BUT IF IT CHANGES NO.
•
Is everyone Ok with the new Calendar in circulation…? YES – NOTED THAT THERE IS NO EASTER COMP.
•
The Newsletter was canned after the 3 rd or 4 th edition without any complaints. Do you want it re-introduced or not. If yes need support as this takes time to do. YES 23 No 0 Not Fussed either way 0
•
Registration on Friday (phone in) is in place and anyone who registers must pay, but if you don't register you do not qualify to be weighed in. Do we continue? YES 23 NO 0
•
Suggestions to improve angling and club socials in 2007?
Darts League
Pool League
Poker nights
Live entertainment (e.g. Scott Gray)
Sing along evenings (Chris)
Max and Jacks boards
Boul/Obut court

2.2.  Other Matters Arising From Chairman's Report 2005:

a. LADAC to Govern Malawi Angling and Better Links to ASOM:

ASOM is now working well, LADAC and SoRAC have new Rules, and ASOM a new Constitution, which Toyota will help us to print in 2006. Thanks to Toyota! If ready on time copies will be made available.

For the next 3 years we will be able to fish for ASOM (if selected) and fly the Malawi flag. JB to explain re full Mwi Colours qualification which is explained in the ASOM constitution.

•
The rules governing Maleries were circulated but to re confirm in brief:
•
LADAC has paid a lump sum to NPWD for it's members to have access to the islands and any water parks on the lake. All you have to do is show your LADAC membership card.
•
If you have non members with you, or in your group they are not covered and must report to the Kwamazungu (spelling?) Allan Pitman's camp to register and pay NP. Please let's police this ourselves or we might lose our privilege!!
